These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Usovo (the "Service"), operated by Kartikey Sondhi, an individual seller based in India ("Usovo," "we," "us," "our"). By creating an account or using Usovo, you agree to these Terms.
1. The Service
Usovo is a desktop application for Apple Silicon Macs that converts text to speech and creates audiobooks, with additional audio capabilities (such as sound effects) planned for the future. Usovo runs locally on your device; an internet connection is required only for account sign-in, billing, and downloading voice models.
2. Plans
- Free — available at no cost, no payment method required, no expiry.
- Pro — a paid subscription unlocking long-form audiobooks, voice cloning, and overnight batch runs. Billed monthly or yearly (see Section 3).
- Pro+ — planned, not currently available for purchase. You may join a waitlist to be notified at launch.
We may add, change, or discontinue plans and features at any time; material reductions to a paid plan you're subscribed to will be communicated in advance where reasonably possible.
3. Subscriptions, Billing & Cancellation
- Pro is billed $4.00 USD/month or $44.00 USD/year. Pricing is currently USD-only; if we introduce pricing in additional currencies, the price shown to you at checkout is the one that applies.
- New Pro subscriptions currently include a 3-month free trial. You will not be charged during the trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, billing begins automatically at the plan's regular price. The trial is available once per account — if you cancel and subscribe again later, the new subscription starts at the regular price with no additional trial.
- All payments are processed by PayPal. Unlike some payment providers, PayPal is not a Merchant of Record for your purchase — Usovo is the seller, and Usovo (not PayPal) is responsible for any taxes that may apply to your purchase based on where you live.
- You can cancel your subscription at any time via Account → Subscription → Cancel subscription, directly in the app. Cancellation is immediate to request, but you keep Pro access through the end of your current billing period, after which your account drops to Free.
- We do not store your card details — PayPal handles and secures all payment information.
4. Accounts
You need an account (email/password, or Google/Apple sign-in) to use Pro features. You're responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Each plan tier permits a limited number of active devices per account.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use Usovo for any unlawful purpose, or to generate content that is defamatory, harassing, or infringes another person's rights;
- Clone another person's voice, use a clone of it, or impersonate a real person, in each case without that person's authorization. Before any voice can be cloned, Usovo requires a live recording of that voice reading a fixed passage, together with your confirmation that the voice is your own or that you have the necessary permission to use it — giving that confirmation falsely, or bypassing, spoofing, or attempting to circumvent this step, is itself a violation of these Terms;
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the underlying models or source code, except as permitted by open-source licenses we separately publish;
- Resell, sublicense, or provide commercial API access to the Service without our written permission.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.
6. Intellectual Property
Usovo, its branding, and its underlying technology are our property. Usovo also incorporates certain third-party open-source components under permissive licenses; a full list of components and license texts is available at usovo.in/open-source. You retain ownership of the audio you generate from your own input text, subject to Section 5 (Acceptable Use) and to any rights of third parties whose voice or likeness you used to generate it.
7. Third-Party Services
The Service relies on PayPal (payments) and Supabase (account authentication and data storage). Your use of the Service is also subject to those providers' own terms where applicable, including PayPal's Acceptable Use Policy.
8. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time via Account → Subscription → Delete account — this immediately cancels any active subscription and permanently deletes your account data. We may suspend or terminate your access for violating these Terms.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Bangalore, India.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
